With the aim of promoting collaboration in veterinary education, animal-health research, and the exchange of technical knowledge, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between the Department of Physiology, Biochemistry and Pharmacology; Chattogram Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (CVASU) and Albion Laboratories Limited.
The MoU was signed on 10 October 2026 in the conference room at Albion Laboratories Limited’s Sitakunda plant. It creates new opportunities for cooperation between the two institutions in joint research, laboratory- and field-based studies, scientific evaluation of animal-health-related products, academic activities, training, exchange of technical knowledge, and extension activities.
Representatives of Albion Laboratories Limited attending the event included Managing Director Md. Muntahar Uddin; Senior General Manager (Business Operations) Mohammed Sharifur Rahman; Asst.Manager Dr. M. M. Mafizul Islam Mridul; Senior Product Manager Dr. Md. Mobarak Hossain; and Product Executive Md. Jahid Hassan.( PMD, Animal Health Division)
Representing CVASU were Professor Dr. Amir Hossan Shaikat, Head of the Department of Physiology, Biochemistry and Pharmacology; Professor Dr. A. K. M. Saifuddin; Professor Dr. Mohammad Rashedul Alam; and a total of 11 respected faculty members, including professors, associate professors, assistant professors, and lecturers from the department.
Under the MoU, the institutions may, by mutual agreement, undertake joint research projects; analyze and publish research findings; organize scientific seminars, workshops, and training; and conduct activities to develop professional skills. The agreement will also expand opportunities for teachers, researchers, and postgraduate students to participate in research-based activities and gain practical experience of the technological environment of industry.
One of the key objectives of this initiative is to establish an effective link between the university’s research-based knowledge and the practical experience of industry. Through this collaboration, opportunities for research and innovation are expected to expand in veterinary medicine, animal health, animal nutrition, pharmacology, and related scientific fields.
Such institutional cooperation between academia and industry is expected to play an important role in increasing the practical application of research, developing the skills of future veterinary professionals, and advancing knowledge and technology in the animal-health sector.
It is worth noting that for more than a decade, interns from every batch of the DVM faculty, as part of their internship, as well as undergraduate and postgraduate (M.S. & Ph.D.) students from the Fisheries, Food Science & Technology, Biotechnology & Genetic Engineering faculties have continued to participate in various research activities with Albion Laboratories Limited.
